Patricia Velásquez opts for a hostage look

Venezuelan actress and model Patricia Velásquez will be the main protagonist of a film about Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt, her kidnapping by the Colombian guerrilla and her recent rescue. Definitively, modeling and performing are affinitive activities but it is not a secret either that Velásquez has always been a versatile woman.

It seems that Velásquez bought the copyright of a diary written by Betancourt's husband, Juan Carlos Lecompte, that was transformed in a script titled “Looking for Ingrid”, thanks to Venezuelan film maker Betty Kaplan.

“The liberation changes definitively our script because it had a poetical appeal for her liberation. Now, we have a better end. However, the fight has not finished yet. My best interest is to respect Lecompte's book and her family”, explained the model.

Velásquez and Laura Carrillo, from Wayuu Prods, established a partnership with Iván de Paz (DePaz Films) and Lourdes Díaz (Agua Films) in order to film this movie within Europe and America next year.

On the other hand, the Hollywood Reporter published that news TV channel RCN sold the copyright of the “Checkmate Operation” that freed 11 Colombian soldiers and police men, Ingrid Betancourt and three American hostages.

This media does not explain how RCN obtained the copyright of a news, since it is not a book or a script. This film will compete with Velásquez's one. Pérez Hilton's readership is already thinking of the casting for playing Ingrid Betancourt's role and the list includes: Hillary Swank, Sandra Bullock, Celine Dion, Penélope Cruz, Angelina Jolie, Shakira and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
